National Distillery Day is this Friday, 1st August, and distilleries across the UK will be opening their doors to celebrate authentic craft and the people behind it. This is the perfect opportunity to meet the makers, take a look behind the stills, and experience what it means to be Actually Made In.

A Day for Real Craft

National Distillery Day is about more than just enjoying a great drink. It’s a day that shines a spotlight on the process, the provenance, and the passion behind every bottle. Distilleries nationwide are inviting the public to come and experience what they do, with free tours, tastings, and special events.

What’s Happening This Friday?

From gin tastings to live distilling demos, here’s a snapshot of what some verified distilleries are offering:

  • Puddingstone Distillery (Hertfordshire) – Free tastings of their award-winning Campfire Gin range, including limited editions.
  • Masons of Yorkshire (North Yorkshire) – Open 1–4pm for behind-the-scenes tours, meeting the founders, and enjoying a complimentary Masons G&T.
  • Lytham Gin (Lancashire) – Distillery open day from 2–6pm, complete with a tasting and a chance to meet the makers.
  • The Spirit of Manchester Distillery (Manchester) – Free tours on the hour from 12–4pm, each including a complimentary G&T. Walk-ins only.
  • Dark Sky Spirits (Moffat) – Free cocktail tastings from 1–5pm and a free distillery tasting glass with adult tour tickets.
  • Edwards 1902 (North Lincolnshire) – Free tours from 11am–2pm, with the chance to meet the team and see how they create their vodka and whisky.
  • Stockport Gin (Stockport) – All-day open distillery and gin school, with free tasters and drinks from the bar.
  • Maidstone Distillery (Kent) – Free tours on the hour from 12–8pm, each including a complimentary G&T. No booking needed.
  • York Distillery (Yorkshire) – Open from 11am–6pm for free gin tastings, live distilling demos, and £5 entry including a G&T. G&Ts are just £5 all day.
